Who is the real leader of LDS?

The front page picture (reproduced here) in Seychelles Weekly last week
provided the answer to that question. LDS is SNP - SNP is LDS; two sides of
the same coin, so to speak. It is now clear that Wavel Ramkalawan has completely
hijacked the LDS with Pat Pillay’s full blessings. They say that a picture speaks a
thousand words – this picture on the front page speaks a million words. It is clear
that “Ton Pat” is more than willing to play second fid-dle to the controversial
millionaire priest; who swindled his sister and brother their shares, they had to
take him to court for their rightful inheritance. He is corrupt this why he should
never run the economyof this country.

The LDS is a registered political organization with Mr. Roger Mancienne as its
leader (on paper), Clifford Andre as Secretary General and Roy Fonseka as Treasurer.
On presenting the LDS candidates for the forthcoming National Assembly
Election, recently, due for September 8-9-10. One would have thought that the
president (Roger Mancienne) of the party would feature prominently in the official
photographs. It didn’t happen. Wavel Ramkalawan wouldn’t allow it he took
center stage – if you look at the group picture you will see that the unholy priest
is sitting dead center flanked by three persons on his right and three on his left;
all women! As far as the picture taking protocol is concerned this seat in the middle
is normally reserved for the President of the organization, where was Roger Mancienne?
Is he not proud of the candidates he is putting forth for the National Assembly
Elections?? Or is he not the real leader of LDS???

We firmly believe that Mancienne is not the real leader. He is only a front for the
unholy priest (Wavel) who is the real leader. The other picture above the
group photograph in the Seychelles Weekly further emphasizes that argument.
It is more proof, if it was ever needed - that Pat Pillay has sold out totally to
the millionaire priest. This is why they will not get the majority in the National
Assembly election; something they want - to hold the country hostage with
Wavel Ramkalawan at the forefront. Many people who voted for Pat Pillay
don’t want Wavel!! Who is going to trust Wavel with that kind of power,
which can hold the country hostage - in his hands? It is going to be a disaster
for all of us knowing what we already know about the man; his character is
totally unpredictable. If he does get what he wants he will have no hesitation
to “bring the ship down to the bottom of the lake”, so to speak.

It is now clear that the SNP has literally taken over the LDS with Pat Pillay’s
approval. The evidence are there in public - especially when they hold political
rallies; Wavel makes secret arrangement for his supporters to wear SNP t-shirts
and to bring along their green flags with SNP posters with his image  and they
always sing “Nou pa pou zamen les tombe” - as if to nail the message home
that SNP is in charge. hey (SNP) are not fully endorsing the LDS ticket,
however, Wavel have no choice under the circumstances but to play the
game as instructed by Wavel; because Wavel got only 35% in the first round
he badly needs the LS support for the parliamentary elections. But when
he is finally installed as leader of the opposition (loto) things will change
for the worst knowing him. We know that even Pat Pillay doesn’t trust him –
we have evidence that will blow the people’s mind when they hear it.

The LS supporters are already complaining about this situation. Those who have
eyes and can see will understand that this is not a healthy state of affair for our country;
it will get chaotic soon after the election. Can this small country of less than
100 thousand people cope with this kind of political instability that will be inflicted
upon us by Wavel Ramkalawan??? This is the question that you need to answer before
you go voting for Wavel Ramkalawan to be in charge of your life that of your
family and the country!!! Can We Trust Wavel Ramkalawan??? We don’t think so!!!

Ahmed Afif’s half hearted apology

This newspaper has been putting pressure on Ahmed Afif to answer several questions
our readers had asked us to put before him on their behalfabout unethical activities
that he was either engaged in or that he knew of when he was working for this
government for answers. Afif has apparently given an interview to some obscure
internet radio station; RDS, which is operating out of Canada to explain his position.

In that interview Ahmed Afif apologised for the role he played in harassing,
confiscation and imprisonment of peopleall these years ago for carry more foreign
exchange on them than it was legally allowed. He also gave an explanation on why
he made an application for a duty free car on the basis that he was a handicap person.
We are not accepting his apology for the simple reason that these crimes were
committed here and Ahmed owes the people in Seychelles a public apology,
not in Canada - just like everyone else who has committed crimesagainst the people
of Seychelles should do – be it in SPPF or LDS.

The list of questions for Afif is growing every week – this week we have two more
questions to add to the list below:

(1) Ahmed Afif have you ever lied to the Seselwa when you were Principal
Secretary for Finance – when you said many times there were no corruption in

(2) Ahmed Afif did you lie when you also helped defend and cover up the loss
of 4.5 million dollars intended for the housing project at Perseverance?

(3) Ahmed Afif can you confirm or deny the allegation that foreign exchange
confiscated by the currency police was given to you directly?

(4) Ahmed Afif did you apply for a duty free vehicle, namely a Ford Ranger
(s5318) in February 2005 on the basis that you are a handicap person?

(5) Ahmed Afif can you tell us what you know about the consultancy firm
‘White Oak’, who hired this company and how much was paid to them and
 for how long?

Mr. Ahmed Afif during your employment with this “corrupt” government
have you ever asked a supplier for Health Supplies for a commission of Euro
50,000 saying that it was for your superiors, “pour mes superieurs”?

Mr. Ahmed Afif is one among many in the opposition, this newspaper included
– who is asking for the setting up of a transparent Corruption Commission.
The other question for Ahmed Afif this week is – Ahmed Afif will you be prepared
to appear before the Corruption Commission when it is finally set up?

This newspaper is totally against any form of corruption be it in the public or
private sector, corruption is corruption no matter who is responsible. Certain LDS
supporters are of the view that we should overlook corruption by people in opposition
because we want James Michel out of power - to accept that some leaders in
LDS are corrupt will make our task harder.

We totally disagree, we believe that a benchmark must be set and established
right here and now before we assume power – so that the people will know that
we are serious in our quest to wage war on corruption. They must all face the music!!
Whoever they are and wherever they are hiding; in PL, SNP, PDM, LS, LDS,
and SPM…..etc.……

Ramkalawan to work very hard—after five years vacation

SNP’s leader, Wavel Ramkalawan, has said that in the next session of the National
Assembly - if he gets elected - he shall press for the legislature to meet three times
a week. This comes after he has just enjoyed a 5-year vacation, having boycotted
the elections in 2011, though still enjoying a fat pension.

For the record, Ramkalawan had been MNA since 1993, when he was
a proportionally elected member. He was there in 1998, when he upstaged
Mr. Mancham as Opposition leader, a post he was to retain until his 2011 boycott.

Did he ever suggest that the National Assembly should meet three times weekly?
The answer is no. He spent much of the time travelling, attending conferences
here and there and generally having a good time, while receiving a fat salary.
As is presently the case, the Assembly also broke up for recess or vacation
twice a year. That means for periods of over one month, it did not sit at all.
Did Ramkalawan find anything wrong with that then? We are not apologizing
for certain Parti Lepep MNAs who hardly tabled motions or asked questions
and sat on their fat ass.

Some like Maria Payet, Bernard Arnephy, Emmanuel Fideria, Charles de
Commarmond and Mirena Souris did their fair share. But still, Ramkalawan
is now playing cheap politics. Can he mention any countries where parliaments
meet almost continuously? In neighbouring Mauritius, parliament also meets once
a week. On occasional occasions, debate can go up till late and last for two or
three consecutive days.

This is the same in Seychelles for the annual budget address at the end of each
year and the President’s State of the Nation Address at the beginning of each

Nearly all SNP MNAs were going to the Assembly on Tuesday and beyond
that, conducting their personal business. This is particularly the case for lawyer
Bernard Georges, who was elected at Les Mamelles in 2007 (albeit by just 4 votes)
and has never been seen since in his constituency.

Ahmed Afif Feeling the Heat

The former deputy minister of Finance, Ahmed Afif is feeling the heat now that his record
in government is being scrutinized and questioned. Afif is the deputy leader of the Lalyans
Seselwa and also one of the leaders of the LDS. He has been penciled into represent
LDS in the safe seat of Anse Etoile which is also the most populated electoral district
in the Country.

Ahmed Afif is also likely to be the de-facto leader of LDS when Wavel Ramkalawan
is struck off the electoral register for admitting electoral fraud under oath. That will make
Afif the first Muslim leaderof a political party in Seychelles, which will be a historic
occasion, proving that the Seychellois People fully embrace religious tolerance.

Ahmed Afif’s claim to fame is that he was the number two to VP Danny Faure
in the Ministry of Finance when the country was bankrupt in 2008. Afif was the
intelligent face of the regime with regular appearances on television defending
questionable decisions and re-assuring the population that all was ok when it
clearly was not. He was the man who was writing the rosy budget speeches
even when the country was going bankrupt under his watch.

Before being appointed as Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Finance,
Afif was in charge of Seychelles International Business Authority (SIBA).
During his stewardship of SIBA, he came into contact with many wealthy
foreign businessmen wishing to open offshore accounts in Seychelles. Some
of them were dubious characters whose sole purpose was to white wash their
money and a lot of them did just that.

Mr. Afif is now considered to be one of the richest men in the country and will
soon set up his own airline business along with well known Attorney at Law;
Philip Boulle. However, Afif has a lot of work to do on the ground at Anse Etoile.
As information about his past is being made public, a lot of locals in the district are
questioning his motives for wishing to represent the district and many don’t trust
him. There is also panic in the LDS camp now that the leader of the Patriotic
Movement, Regis Francourt, has been seen many times talking to groups of people
in the district.

In the sub district of Khandahar, LDS supporters have turned against Afif in favourof Seychelles Patriotic Movement. They claim that he is aloof and show no interest in the people or the district. In the last meeting there last Wednesday held by Mr. Francourt, one of the attendants was Stella Afif, the wife of Ahmed Afif. The reception from the assembled crowd towards Mrs. Afif was negative but Mr. Francourt quickly calmed things down and made her feel welcome. Mrs.Afif has since reported back to her Executives that they have to take the SPM seriously.

Meanwhile this newspaper over its last two editions, has thrown two questions at Ahmed Afif which as yet he has not answered:

 (1) Ahmed Afif have you ever lied to the Seselwa when you were Principal Secretary for Finance – when you said many times there were no corruption in government?

(2) Ahmed did you lie when you also helped defend and cover up the loss of 4.5 million dollars intended for the housing project at Perseverance?

It is not known who will stand for theSeychelles Patriotic Movement (SPM) at Anse Etoile but judging by the reception accorded to Regis Francourt in that district, it would be foolish to write off the SPM. In the first round of the Presidential Elections, Anse Etoile delivered over 2000 votes to the combined opposition. The question is will the district vote fo rthe aloof Ahmed Afif or for the relaxed Regis Francourt, assuming he chooses to stand there since he has the option to stand at Plaisance? Whatever happens, Anse Etoile will be one to watch out for!

We have received many telephone calls in regards to the article in our last Edition (Issue 22 - 1st July 2016) on page 10: ‘Ahmed Afif has not answered the questions!!’– At least two former currency policemen who worked in close collaboration with Afif at the time called our office to inform that all foreign exchange taken from people travelling abroad was placed in an envelope and delivered to Ahmed Afif personally. We now have a third question for the wannabe MNA: Ahmed Afif can you confirm or deny the allegation that foreign exchange (confiscated) was given to you directly!? This is one other question Ahmed has to answer before the National Assembly election. We hope that the people will get an answer soon from this dodgy opposition leader who for many years connived with the establishment to persecute the people.

One last question for Ahmed: Ahmed Afif did you apply for duty free importation of a Ford Ranger (S5318) in February 2005 on the basis that you are a handicap person? This question will also be added to the growing list for Ahmed to answer before election in September.
